WFK is grateful to have the support of the following people who have so willingly taken on the role of voluntary Ambassadors for WFK.
They are committed to actively promoting the ideals and goals of WFK during the course of their everyday lives.
 
 

Graham Edwards

The Honourable Graham Edwards - Government Liaison
Graham was born in Kalgoorlie and was educated at the Leederville Technical College in Perth, Australia. Graham saw active service in Vietnam with the 7th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment where he was wounded twice; the second time resulting in the amputation of both legs after a land mine incident in 1970. Following an extensive period of rehabilitation Graham entered public life as a counselor with the City of Stirling. Graham served fourteen years in State Parliament during which time he held a number of Ministerial portfolios. Graham then went on to served three terms as the Federal Member for Cowan in Perth’s Northern suburbs. During this period Graham became involved with WFK. Graham is now retired however he continues his association with WFK. Graham is also an Ambassador for the disability focussed charity Workability, which supports people living with a disability in finding and maintaining sustainable employment.
 
 

Carol Bishop

Carol Bishop OAM - Hospitality
Carol is a Registered Nurse currently working in an aged care setting caring for people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. She previously worked with the Cancer Council of Western Australia supporting women diagnosed with breast cancer. In addition Carol selected and trained volunteers for a number of different positions within the Cancer Council including the Cottage Hospice. Carol was awarded the Order of Australia Medal on 26th January 2004 for service to the community through a range of breast cancer support organisations and initiatives. Carol has been a member of the Rotary Club of Scarborough since 2004 and is a Volunteer Driver for the Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital.
 
 

Grant Pierce

Grant Pierce OAM - Mining and Natural Resources
Grant graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the Ballarat College of Advanced Education, Australia in 1985 and has worked in developing African countries since 1998. He has been associated with Wheelchairs for Kids since 1999, coordinating the distribution of wheelchairs to 1,000 impoverished children across Tanzania, Zanzibar, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo during that time. Grant actively promotes human rights and is an Ambassador for the White Ribbon Foundation for the elimination of violence against women. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia on 26th January 2003. The investiture was in recognition of his contribution to sustainable social development in rural Tanzania in the areas of water supply, education, health and the disabled community.
 
 

Tony Usher

Tony Usher - Transport and Logistics
Tony is Managing Director of RIAS Technologies (International) Limited and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has held senior management positions with large Australian and International companies including Qantas Airways Ltd; DHL Worldwide Express; Brambles Industrial Services; National Rail Corporation and United Farmers Co-operative Limited. Tony has also performed a voluntary role as a board member of Intework Inc, a not for profit group catering to the employment and training needs of young disabled persons.
 
 

Chris Oates

Chris Oates - Local Business
Chris was educated at Curtin University, Western Australia and holds a degree in Construction Management and Economics. He is the General Manager of Savcor Finn, a multifaceted contracting company specialising in mine site maintenance throughout Australia. Chris is a Member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, the Australian Institute of Building and a Registered Builder in his own right.
