Letter from Sir Andy Chande

I am glad to learn that the Wheelchairs for Kids is in the process of launching a new website and want to take this opportunity to convey congratulations to the members of the Rotary Club of Surfers Sunrise and of Scarborough, Western Australia for their noble initiative and Christian Brothers whose "Olly's Workshop" served as a catalyst in bringing the wheelchair distribution project to be a welcome benefactor for the indigent community - specially in Africa where 3000 wheelchairs have been donated. It is gratifying to note that the Rotary Clubs in Australia and corporate leaders are helping in this cause. In March 2008 when I had an opportunity to address the members of RI District 9640 at their annual conference I was happy to learn about the WFK activities. On a personal note a former member of my Club - Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam - Grant Pierce had helped to bring to Tanzania 328 wheelchairs and is presently in the process of sending a shipment of additional 178 chairs.
I salute the founders of the WFK and all those who are involved in the project and wish them success in working towards making dreams real.
A welcome feature of the WFK program is that the project Managers have successfully transferred skill and material to a few benefiting countries so that the chairs are fabricated/assembled there.
